COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country junior Abby French (Nashua, N.H./Academy of Notre Dame) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 21. The weekly accolade was the 11th of French's career, and her fourth this season.
French was fourth among 124 runners in a personal record of 18:52.1 during the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Saturday at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, N.H., competing alongside harriers from 10 NE10 counterparts. Among the runners she bested were all 12 from Stonehill College, which is receiving votes toward the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll. As a team, the Purple Knights were eighth out of 11 squads, and within eight points of seventh.
French has paced the Purple and Gold in all 17 races over the past three seasons, finishing among the top 10 at 11 meets. Each of her past five races has yielded a top-10 showing, a career-best streak, and the longest by a Purple Knight since Chloe Boutelle '15 was top 10 in seven in a row during the 2013 season.
Saint Michael's is back in action at the NE10 Championship on Nov. 4 at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds at 11 a.m.
