COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country junior Abby French (Nashua, N.H./Academy of Notre Dame) was selected for a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 30. The weekly accolade was the ninth of French's career.
French became the fourth runner in Purple Knight women's cross country history to win a Vermont Intercollegiate Championship on Saturday at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, taking first among 52 runners in the 5K with a time of 21:32.3, winning by 55.7 seconds. Saint Michael's took second out of eight schools, finishing 14 points behind nationally-ranked Division III institution Middlebury College. French has paced the Purple and Gold in all 15 races over the past three seasons, finishing among the top 10 at nine meets.
The Saint Michael's cross country teams return to action this Saturday at the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. The women's sub-varsity race begins at 10:30 a.m. and the varsity race is at 11:15 a.m., while the men's sub-varsity race kicks off at 12 p.m. before the varsity race is at 12:45 p.m.
