Southern Connecticut State went on an 11-2 run to push the lead to 19-5. A kill each from Barton and Priester aided a Saint Michael's 5-0 berth before the Owls finished the set with six of the final seven points.
The beginning of the second set saw six ties by the time three different Purple Knights tallied a kill to make it 6-6. Seven Purple Knight kills pushed a 9-4 run to give them a 14-10 lead, which eventually was extended to a set-best 21-16 on Barton's kill. However, Gage had four kills and a block during a set-ending 9-1 run.
Saint Michael's led 3-2 at the beginning of the third set before the Owls scored eight of the next 10 points to push ahead 10-5. Two kills by senior McKenzie McNamara (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) brought her team within 11-7 before the Owls answered with a 7-2 run. A Ratte kill and an Owl error put the Purple Knights behind 18-11 before the visitors scored the next three points and never again led fewer than eight.
