COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's tennis junior Abby Ramsay (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 23. Ramsay claimed the third weekly accolade of her career, and her second in a row.
Ramsay went 4-2 last week, including a perfect 3-0 at No. 1 singles. In a 7-0 win over American International College on Wednesday, Ramsay won 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 in singles but lost a 7-5 decision at No. 1 doubles. During a 4-3 setback against Saint Anselm College on Friday, she claimed a 6-3, 6-4 singles triumph and 6-3 victory in the second doubles spot. In a 6-1 loss against Merrimack College on Sunday, Ramsay won a 6-2, 6-3 singles match but lost a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles.
For the season, Ramsay leads the Purple Knights in singles wins, having gone 5-2 in the No. 1 spot, and overall victories (8). Ramsay is 3-4 in doubles, making all but one appearance in the first position. A regular near the top of the lineup since arriving on campus, she has made 33 of her 35 career doubles appearances in the top spot and all 33 singles outings at either No. 1 or 2.
Now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the NE10, the Purple Knights oppose Bentley University on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in a league match that will be played at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.
