DeWITT, N.Y. - The regionally-ranked Saint Michael's College women's tennis team completed an abbreviated fall slate with a 6-3 victory over Le Moyne College on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Gold's Gym. The Purple Knights, who are eighth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, improved to 2-0 both overall and in the league, while the Dolphins are 0-7 and 0-4.
The visitors headed into singles with a 2-1 lead thanks to a pair of doubles wins. Sophomores Erica Bundrick (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck) and Alexandra Sulkin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) teamed for an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while first-years Nicole Kellogg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Colleen O'Keefe (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) moved up one position from their first match of the year to claim an 8-4 decision at No. 2.
In singles, Bundrick and Sulkin each dropped only three games at No. 2 and 4, respectively, while senior Samantha Purnell (Stowe, Vt./Stowe) was victorious by a 6-3, 6-2 count in the fifth spot. O'Keefe earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3.
