  • Women's Soccer Announces Seven Members Of Class Of 2015

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – Seven student-athletes – including a pair of Vermonters and standouts from four New England states – will make up the Saint Michael’s College women’s soccer Class of 2015, head coach Marcel Choquette announced Tuesday. The players include: forwards Olivia Biron (Saint Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy-Saint Albans), Hailey McKean (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater) and Natalie Page (Groton, Vt./Blue Mountain Union School); midfielder Carley Pestana (Bedford, N.H./Bedford); defenders Amanda Shanahan (Hull, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) and Lisa Simiola (Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme); and goalkeeper Aubrey Ouellet (Bedford, N.H./Bedford).
  • SMC Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Cary Rivett Signs Pro Contract

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – Cary Rivett, who completed her first season as an assistant coach with the Saint Michael’s College women’s soccer team last fall, has been signed by the Rochester (N.Y.) Ravens FC professional women’s soccer franchise, it was recently announced. The Ravens are a member of the United Soccer Leagues’ W-League, the second-highest level of professional women’s soccer in the United States. Rivett was invited to the Ravens’ combine tryout, held December 30-31, and found out last week that she made the team’s 18-player roster.
  • Women's Soccer Duo Earns NEWISA All-New England Second Team Honors

    COLCHESTER - A pair of Saint Michael's College seniors - Liz Freiberger (South Walpole, Mass./Walpole), at left, and Jenn Senecal (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) - were named to the 2010 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association All-New England Second Team, it was recently announced. Both players played in all 17 games for the Purple Knights in 2010, and helped Saint Michael's win 25 games in their four-year careers.
  • Women's Soccer Named NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winner

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team was announced as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award winner by the NSCAA earlier this week. Team's that earned a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2009-10 academic year were honored, with Saint Michael's garnering a 3.22 GPA in 2009-10.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's soccer seniors Mary Diebold (Northfield, Vt./Northfield), Liz Freiberger (South Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and Jenn Senecal (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) have been selected to play in Saturday's 2010 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. The game, featuring 19 players from the Northeast-10 Conference, will be played on Saturday at Merrimack College in Andover, Mass. at 2:30 p.m.
  • Jordyn Mallett Named To NE-10 Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College freshman midfielder Jordyn Mallett (Winslow, Maine/Winslow) was rewarded for a strong first year with the Purple Knights on Friday by earning Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team honors. Mallett played in all 17 games for the Purple Knights in 2010, and finished fifth on the team with three points.

Junior Laura Ostrout (Northfield, Vt./Northfield) scored a goal in the setback, Saint Michael's fifth straight one-goal loss to end the season.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael’s College women’s soccer team (5-7-2, 4-6-2 NE-10) lost a tight 1-0 game to Southern New Hampshire (6-6-1, 5-5-1 NE-10) at Duffy Field on Wednesday. The win moves the Penmen ahead of the Purple Knights in the Northeast-10 standings and knocks Saint Michael’s out of the eighth and final playoff spot with three games remaining. The Purple Knights play two of their remaining three games against Adelphi and New Haven, both of which are within two points of the last postseason slot. Saint Michael's plays its final home game of the season on Saturday against Adelphi at 1 p.m.

Cocozza stopped a combined 11 shots in earning two shutout victories versus league competition last week. Saint Michael's (4-4-2, 3-3-2 NE-10) will look to extend its three-game winning streak on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The Purple Knights' season-opener versus Molloy College at the Dowling College Tournament, originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., has been postponed due to expected inclement weather as a result of Hurricane Earl. The game is now scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's Women's Soccer program teamed up with the Eric Douglas Dettenrieder (EDD) Memorial Fund for a free soccer clinic for local youth with disabilities on Aug. 21. The attendees ranged from eight to 20 years old, and got a chance to spend a Saturday playing soccer on the Doc Jacobs Field with Saint Michael's players and coaches.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – Cary Rivett, a standout scholar-athlete at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire University, has been named women’s soccer assistant coach at Saint Michael’s College, it was announced by head coach Marcel Choquette today. Rivett was a standout scholarship student-athlete for four years at SNHU, and will begin her duties with Saint Michael’s in mid-August.
