COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball junior point guard Brianna Purcell (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 20, landing the first accolade of her career.
Purcell averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 assists to 1.0 turnover, 4.0 steals and 3.0 rebounds during a 1-1 week. In a 69-57 loss at regionally-ranked University of New Haven on Wednesday, she notched seven points on 3-of-6 shooting with three offensive rebounds, eight assists to two turnovers, and four steals before turning in 16 points, three rebounds, six assists with no turnovers, and four steals in an 83-81 win over Adelphi University on Saturday.
Purcell is mirroring her sophomore numbers this winter, averaging 8.7 points on 42.5 percent shooting with 3.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals. She turned in 8.6 points on 42.7 percent shooting with 3.7 boards, 4.3 helpers and 2.1 steals last season. In her last seven games alone, Purcell turned in 11.3 points - including four outings of 13 points or more - to go along with 37 assists and just eight turnovers.
Purcell is third in the NE10 in assists, eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0) and 13th in steals. She stands third in the NCAA East Region in assists and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio, as well as 24th nationally in assists.
The Purple Knights, 6-10 overall and 2-9 in NE10 play, visit Pace University for their lone game of the week on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
