COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball senior Aleksandra Apkarian (Butler, N.J./Butler) was chosen for the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, April 7. She landed the accolade for the second consecutive week.
Apkarian batted .471, mostly out of the leadoff spot, while slugging .706 and reaching base at a .571 clip in six games last week. She finished 8-for-17 with two runs, a double, a home run, four walks and only one strikeout while fielding .944 at third base. Apkarian was 3-for-6 in a twinbill at No. 16 Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday before walking in the opener of a doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday. She went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI, a homer and a walk in the nightcap. Apkarian finished 3-for-6 versus the University of New Haven on Sunday, hitting 2-for-3 with a run, a double and a walk in the first game before adding a hit and a walk in game two.
Apkarian is batting .333 with a .433 on-base percentage and .471 slugging clip through 20 contests, adding five runs. Her five RBIs and seven walks match the figures Apkarian turned in during 58 games as an underclassman. She is 14th in the NE10 in OBP and tied for 20th in in batting average, but during NE10 play alone, Apkarian paces the circuit in batting (.500) and OBP (.576) while sitting second in slugging (.750). Apkarian is tied for fourth in program history with eight career hit-by-pitches. She set the single-season school record with six last spring.
The Purple Knights, whose 2-18 overall mark and 1-9 NE10 record includes nine games decided by four runs or less, host 16th-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. contest.
