COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball first-year Fallon Tierney (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, March 27. The accolade was the first of her career.
Tierney recorded a .500 batting average (8-for-16), a .625 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage with two runs, two RBIs, a triple and a walk in five games while fielding .971 as a catcher and outfielder, catching two of six would-be base stealers. During the remaining four games of the team's Spring Break trip in Clermont, Fla., she went 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two of a doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State University last Monday. She then went 1-for-3 with a walk against University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Tuesday before going 2-for-3 against Hendrix (Ark.) College in the nightcap, and 3-for-3 with two runs and a triple in game one of the Purple Knights' Northeast-10 Conference opener at Bentley University on Saturday. During the nightcap, she was 0-for-4 but drove in a run.
Starting behind the plate in six games and part of the outfield in four contests, Tierney is the team leader in batting (.345), while tying for second in both hits (10) and triples (1).
Saint Michael's, which is 1-11 overall and 0-2 in the league, travels to Saint Anselm College for a Wednesday doubleheader, beginning at 3 p.m.
