PAXTON, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team opened a regular-season-ending run of three matches in three days with an 8-1 loss to Assumption College on Friday at Paxton Tennis & Fitness Club. The Purple Knights are winless through nine matches, including eight in Northeast-10 Conference play, while the Greyhounds improved to 4-7 and 2-3.
First-years Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) and Cam Maher (Exter, N.H./Exeter) narrowly lost during their doubles match, suffering an 8-6 setback in the third spot, while junior Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) combined to claim three games at No. 1.
Antonacci earned his first singles victory wearing Purple and Gold thanks to taking a 6-1, 6-2 decision in the sixth spot, having transferred in for the spring semester from NE10 counterpart Saint Anselm College. Maher took four games in the fifth position, dropping a 6-3, 6-1 contest.
The Purple Knights are back in action tomorrow at Stonehill College at 1 p.m.
