Men's Soccer Slips By Lyndon State 1-0 In Double Overtime

COLCHESTER, Vt. - On Wednesday afternoon, Saint Michael's College defeated the Hornets of Lyndon State 1-0 in double overtime. The win puts the Purple Knights a game above .500.

In a game of possessions, Saint Michael's (2-1) dominated the contest throughout. The Purple Knights out shot Lyndon State (0-1) 30-1, and held the corner kick advantage at 18-0. Saint Michael's had its share of opportunities in front of the net and in the Hornet's zone, but could only put 12 of the 30 shots on goal.

Five minutes in to the second overtime, Saint Michael's got one to go through when senior Tim Warren (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) found sophomore Blake Schill (Essex Junction, Vt./Worcester Academy) for the game-winning goal at 105th minute. Junior goalkeeper Jason Burnett (South Burlington, Vt./IMG Academy) recorded one save. For the Hornets, Jeff Giroux (Derby, Vt.) made three saves, and Ian Oliver (Westport, Mass.) had seven saves for the loss.

Saint Michael's next contest is on Saturday when they take on non-conference opponent Post University at 12 p.m.
