Men's lacrosse first-year Matt Cotter chosen for NE-10 All-Rookie Team

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse first-year Matt Cotter (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro Regional) was one of 12 players from around the league named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, it was announced on Wednesday. He becomes the fourth Purple Knight in three years to be honored.

A long-stick midfielder, Cotter nabbed 21 ground balls while causing seven turnovers and committing just five. He also turned in a pair of assists while appearing in all 14 games. Over his final seven games alone, Cotter had 10 ground balls, all seven of his caused turnovers and just two giveaways.

Two of Cotter's biggest games were against NE-10 Championship qualifiers, notching four ground balls and an assist against Pace University on March 19 before totaling three caused turnovers and two ground balls versus league semifinalist Southern New Hampshire University on April 6. Cotter added three ground balls and two caused turnovers at American International College on April 23.

The Purple Knights finished the year 5-9 overall and 3-8 in the league.
