COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse sophomore Brian Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, March 27, snagging his second accolade in three weeks.
Loughlin played a hand in 21 of his team's 40 goals during a 2-1 week away from home, scoring eight times and assisting 13 more while adding three ground balls, scoring on 53.3 percent of his shots. In a non-conference game at Georgian Court (N.J.) University last Monday, he notched three goals, five assists and three ground balls before totaling two goals and six assists at non-conference foe Post University on Wednesday. At No. 5 Adelphi University on Saturday, Loughlin had three goals and two assists, scoring on each shot he took. Adelphi, which won the previous two NE-10 Championship titles and qualified for the last three NCAA Tournaments, was ranked according to last week's United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) poll.
Loughlin is third in the NE-10 in assists (13), fifth in points (29) and tied for ninth in goals (16). A starter in 21 career games, Loughlin has 65 points on 24 goals and 41 assists, while scooping up 41 ground balls. He is tied with Rick Saba '92 for 15th in program history in career helpers.
At 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the league, the regionally-ranked Purple Knights host nationally-regarded and regionally-ranked Bentley University on Saturday at 12 p.m. Bentley, which received votes in the latest USILA poll, is also third in this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll. Saint Michael's is ranked fifth regionally.
