Hermary Named NE10 Player of the Week, Decker Lands Goaltender of the Week

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey senior Nic Hermary (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Melfort Mustangs) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, while junior Tim Decker (Liverpool, N.Y./Canterbury School) landed NE10 Goaltender of the Week laurels for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 17.

Senior Sam D'Antuono (Hingham, Mass./Dexter School) was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll. This is the third time this season that all three student-athletes have been named to their respective awards.

Hermary scored all three goals between the two teams in the Purple Knights' weekend sweep of Franklin Pierce University. In a 1-0 win on Friday, Hermary's power-play marker at 2:48 of the second period accounted for all of the scoring. He added both goals in a 2-0 victory on Saturday, netting the winner at 10:47 of the first period before adding a power-play tally at 1:28 of the third. Hermary leads the Purple Knights with a career-high 10 goals on the season, including a career-high five power-play goals, and has four assists. In conference play he is first in power-play points (7), first in game-winning goals (3), second in power-play goals (4), tied for fourth in goals (7), and tied for ninth in points (11). Overall he tied for first in the NE10 in game-winning goals (3), tied for third in power-play goals (5), tied for sixth in goals (10), and tied for eighth in power-play points (8).

Decker registered two shutouts in a 2-0 weekend at Franklin Pierce, averaging 17.5 saves. On Friday, Decker had 16 stops, including a point-blank save with 4:31 remaining to maintain the lead. He added 19 more saves in a 2-0 win on Saturday. In all, he backstopped the Purple Knights to eight successful penalty kills in as many chances.  During conference play, Decker leads the NE10 in goals-against-average (1.97) and save percentage (.931) and is second in winning percentage (.636). Overall Decker is third save percentage (.908), fourth in GAA (2.63), and fifth in winning percentage (.500).

D'Antuono lent assists on both game-winning goals while winning 70.8 percent (34-for-48) of his faceoffs in the 2-0 weekend against Franklin Pierce. D'Antuono had an assist on the game's lone goal, a power-play marker, during Friday's win while going 19-for-26 on draws. He added a helper on the winner at 10:47 of the first period during on Saturday's victory and finished 15-for-22 at the dot. For the season, D'Antuono has 18 points on five goals and a team-leading 13 assists and also leads Saint Michael's with a career-high 398 faceoffs wins, winning draws at a clip of 58.6 percent. In conference play he is tied for fifth in power-play points (5), tied for sixth in points (12), tied for eighth in assists (7), tied for ninth in power-play goals (2), and tied for 11th in goals (5). Overall he is tied for fourth in assists and shorthanded points (2), tied for 12th in points, and is tied for 16th in power-play points (6).

The Purple Knights finished their regular season with a 7-15-4 overall record and a 7-5-3 conference record and are the third seed in the NE10 Championship tournament. They will go on the road to face second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in an NE10 Championship semifinal contest.
