COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball first-year Levi Holmes III (East Brunswick, N.J./Rutgers Prep) was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 14. Junior Matt Bonds (Accokeek, Md./North Point) landed on the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll. Holmes was lauded for the first time in his rookie season, while Bonds earned a weekly league recognition for the sixth time this winter.

In the team's 84-75 win over No. 19 Saint Anselm College on Saturday, he scored 16 points off the bench on 6-of-12 shooting and went 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. His two driving lay-ups and one free throw in a 34-second stretch during the final two minutes extended the lead from 73-71 to seven and all but sealed the upset victory. In a 90-74 loss against Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, he scored 21 points and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals as he shot 7-of-10 from the floor while sinking 5-of-6 freebies.

A starter in 18 of the team's 23 games this season, Holmes has reached double figures in scoring 15 times while grabbing at least five boards 11 times. He leads the team and is 15th in the NE-10 in three-point shooting (41.3%) while sitting second among Purple Knights in scoring (11.4), tied for second in steals (18), and third in rebounding (3.8) and field goal percentage (46.0%).

He has the most double-doubles by a Purple Knight since Michel Bonebo '90 (17) in 1989-90. In Saturday's game, Bonds upped his career total to 737 rebounds to pass Brian Pannuzzo '99 (730) for 11th in program history.
