    COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College men’s basketball coach Tom O’Shea has announced that senior Mike Iola (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) is the recipient of the 2009 Jerry Lanteri Award, honoring an exemplary member of the Purple Knights’ men’s basketball squad annually. To receive the award, chosen by a committee of former players and the men’s basketball coaching staff, candidates must attain an esteemed academic stature, closely resemble the ideal of the true student-athlete, and be highly regarded by students for his leadership qualities, on and off the court.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College freshman forward Tyler Schilling (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) ended his first season as a Purple Knight by finishing 11th in the nation in rebounding in Division II at 10.2 a game. The first-year forward's 10.2 rebounds per game was also tops for freshmen in all of Division II. Schilling was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball All-Rookie Team.

Schilling had a game-high 13 points and 19 rebounds in the Purple Knights' final game of the season last week, a 54-53 win versus Pace University at the Ross Sports Center.

    SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball freshman Tyler Schilling (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference's All-Rookie Team, it was announced Friday. Schilling had a tremendous first season as a Purple Knight, posting averages of 9.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. The freshman forward also finished the season second in the conference in rebounds per game and minutes played (37.5). The Purple Knights closed out their season winning three of their last four contests.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Sophomore Chris Hurley (Watertown, Mass./Boston College HS) drained a 3-pointer with six seconds left in regulation, lifting the Saint Michael’s College men's basketball team (10-15, 7-15 Northeast-10 Conference) to an exciting 54-53 victory versus Pace University on Monday at the Ross Sports Center. The win closes out the regular season for Saint Michael's, and is the Purple Knights third victory in their last four contests.

In a 1-1 week, Berthiaume averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The week was highlighted with a career-best 25-point performance in a 75-71 road victory at Saint Anselm College on Saturday. Saint Michael's closes out its season tonight at home on "Senior Day" versus Pace University at 7:30 p.m. at the Ross Sports Center.
