CICERO, N.Y. - Saint Michael's College men's golf junior Colin Gaunt (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) was within one stroke of his career low while tying for 13th place on Friday during day one of the Le Moyne College Fall Invitational at Lake Short Yacht & Country Club. The Purple Knights are 16th out of 19 squads with 321 strokes, trailing Saint Anselm College by one and 2017 NCAA Atlantic/East Regional qualifier Concordia (N.Y.) University by two. Action concludes on Saturday.
Gaunt fired a 2-over 74 to tie for 13th among 106 competitors, missing out on the top 10 during the opening day of play by just one stroke. He was also just four shots away from the second-place golfer. Sophomore Matt Johnson (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) ran his streak of rounds in the 70s to 10 by carding a 78, tying for 46th, while his 13 pars tied for second. Junior David Boardman (Pelham, N.H./Pelham) shot 83 and classmate Tucker Buteau (Gorham, Maine/Tilton School) fired an 86, one ahead of first-year Connor Morse (Westford, Mass./Kimball Union Academy).
