COLCHESTER, Vt. - A group of veteran hitters anchors the Saint Michael's College baseball team this spring, while first-year head coach Jason Szafarski is among a sizeable group of newcomers to the program.

KEY DATES
Saint Michael's opens the season on Wednesday at Southern New Hampshire University for a non-league game. The Penmen are ranked 10th in the latest Collegiate Baseball national poll and finished as the 2016 NCAA East Regional Tournament runners-up ... four straight road doubleheaders ensue, starting at the State University of New York Maritime on March 18 and Emerson College the next day. The Purple Knights kick off NE10 play at Pace University and Adelphi University on March 25 and 26, respectively, and begin their home schedule against Southern New Hampshire on March 29 ... Saint Michael's has Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce University, the two NCAA East Regional Tournament finalists, on its slate a combined seven times this spring. Franklin Pierce eventually represented the region at the 2016 Division II World Series ... the top four teams in the NE10's two divisions head into the league championship beginning on May 9.
