COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College baseball seniors Chadwick Estey (New Haven, Vt./Mount Abraham Union) and Austin Ziskie (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and freshman Will Corkum (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, April 15.
Estey batted .500 (5-for-10), slugged .700 and had a .615 on-base percentage last week, as the Purple Knights went 2-3. He scored five runs, drove in three and walked three times. Estey was 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and two walks in a 9-1 win at Saint Anselm College on Wednesday before going 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a triple during a 5-1 triumph over Merrimack College on Saturday. In Sunday's 8-5 loss to Merrimack, Estey was 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk.
Ziskie posted a 0.71 earned run average last week, yielding one earned run on seven hits - all singles - in 12.2 innings. He made two outings, which included a four-hitter during which he yielded no earned runs during a complete-game win over Saint Anselm. Ziskie struck out three in that game before striking out two in a 3.2-inning relief appearance on Sunday versus Merrimack. He allowed opponents to hit .156, but just .087 with runners on base and 0-for-11 with two outs.
Corkum did not yield an earned run during a complete-game three-hitter in the 5-1 win over Merrimack on Saturday. He struck out six and walked one while allowing only two runners to advance as far as third base. Corkum allowed the Warriors to bat .097 during the contest.
Estey was behind the plate for both Corkum's and Ziskie's stellar outings. In 17 games, all starts, Estey bats .271 with five RBIs, having walked five times and struck out just seven times in 65 plate appearances. He enters this week with 97 career hits. Ziskie is 3-0 with a 3.14 ERA, 33 strikeouts and a career-best .218 opposing batting average. He had four career wins, all as a freshman, entering this season. Corkum is 2-2 with a 3.07 ERA and a .183 opposing average.
Saint Michael's is 8-19 overall and 5-13 in the NE-10, including 2-8 in the Northeast Division. The Purple Knights are back in action tomorrow against visiting Saint Anselm at 3:30 p.m.
