THE ACTION
  • Junior Amos Schramm's (Sagard, Mecklenburg-Pomerania, Germany/Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium) free kick from his own end sprung Riby-Williams for a rush into the Penmen box in the 11th minute, but the rookie pushed a shot high while under pressure.
  • Barrett sprawled to stop sophomore Iago Perez's bid to find the lower left corner during the 32nd minute.
  • With 50 seconds remaining in the half, Perez's left-footed drive from the middle of the box was smothered by Barrett.
  • Escobedo gave the Penmen the lead at 47:54 by running onto a teammate's cross and driving a shot home from 25 yards.
  • Only 62 seconds later, Riby-Williams drilled the equalizer into the far side of the goal after pouncing on a partial clear by the hosts near the left corner of the box.
  • Saint Michael's nearly went ahead in the 67th minute, but sophomore Mikel Penin's (Bargara, Basque Country/Ipintza Institutua/Spring Hill) header was cleared off the goal line by a Penmen back.
  • Escobedo's bounding free kick from the right side was denied by Barrett in the 79th minute.
  • With only 40 seconds remaining, Riby-Williams rushed through the right side of the box but slipped a shot just wide from inside the eight.
  • The Penmen pushed for a game-winning goal in the waning half minute, but sophomore back Drew Kull (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) disrupted the final two throw-ins during the closing 20 seconds.
