Five Teams Slated to Play During Spring Break, Three Head to Florida

COLCHESTER, Vt. - All five Saint Michael's College Athletics spring teams will compete over the course of school vacation, among them baseball, men's lacrosse and softball traveling to Florida.

Softball is slated to play 10 contests at The Spring Games, with six in Clermont and four in Kissimmee, while one of its March 17 opponents, the University of Minnesota Duluth, was a 2018 NCAA Super Regional finalist. After returning north on March 22, the Purple and Gold heads to The College of Saint Rose and Le Moyne College the following two days, playing 14 games during a nine-day stretch to begin the season.

Men's lacrosse takes on a challenging four-game slate over eight days, as each foe is at least receiving votes toward a national poll. They host 19th-ranked Assumption College on Saturday before heading to Florida to visit Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University, which is receiving national votes, next Tuesday and play No. 11 Lynn University on March 21. The Purple Knights, who are receiving votes toward this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll, close Spring Break at No. 5 Pace University on March 23.

Baseball also leaves the region, playing seven times in Fort Myers, Fla., at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic before wrapping up break with two contests at American International College on March 24. The Purple Knights face Johns Hopkins (Md.) University, the ninth-ranked team in the national poll, on March 21 during the Cusic Classic.

Women's lacrosse has three games during Spring Break, with two at home. The Purple and Gold visits Assumption, which is 12th in the latest USLacrosse Magazine national poll, on Saturday before hosting Saint Anselm College on March 20 and Southern Connecticut State University on March 23. Men's tennis also remains north but has four matches scheduled, with three at home. Saint Michael's hosts Northern Vermont University-Lyndon next Tuesday, opposes Colby-Sawyer College on Dartmouth College's courts the next day, and returns home to face Assumption and Endicott College on March 23 and 24, respectively.
