COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's cross country team will side 10 first-years with 11 veterans this fall, as nearly half of the roster has turned over from the 2017 campaign.

Saint Michael's matched its lowest point total at an NCAA East Regional Championship since 2014 last fall, coming within 15 points of 16th place among 29 schools ... the Purple Knights placed second at back-to-back meets at Middlebury College in September, first at the Aldrich Invitational before claiming their first runner-up showing at the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship in three years ... a 12th-place finish out of 41 schools at the multi-division James Earley Invitational followed ... 25 of 42 scoring positions last year were occupied by returners ... second double-digit first-year class in three seasons ... 11 returners are program's fewest since 2007.

KEY DATES
For the third straight year, Saint Michael's will run on consecutive weekends only once this fall, with the schedule otherwise set up for one race every two weeks ... the Purple Knights open the season on Sept. 1 at Saint Anselm College's Shacklette Invitational before the next two races both take place in Vermont: at Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational on Sept. 15 and at the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship on Northern Vermont University-Lyndon's campus on Sept. 29 ... after attending the multi-division James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., on Oct. 6, the Purple Knights will visit the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, N.H., for back-to-back events, racing in the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Oct. 20 before returning for the NE10 Championship on Nov. 4 ... the NCAA East Regional Championship is Nov. 17 in Bethpage (N.Y.) State Park ... qualifiers head to the NCAA Championship on Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh.
