COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College cross country sophomores Abby French (Nashua, N.H./Academy of Notre Dame) and Kevin Jeter (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 1. It was the sixth weekly accolade of French's young career, and her third laurel this fall, while Jeter claimed his initial career award.
French took fifth out of 67 finishers on Saturday at the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship at Middlebury College. French's PR time of 19:32.3 during the 5K left her behind two runners from nationally-ranked Middlebury, a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-America harrier from Vermont Technical College, and a Castleton University runner who won last year's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships. The Purple Knights finished second out of nine schools. French has paced the Purple Knights nine times in as many career races.
Jeter placed eighth among 60 finishers at the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship. Jeter clocked in at 27:42.8 during the 8K while finishing behind six runners from nationally-ranked Middlebury and a Castleton runner who won last year's NAC and ECAC championships. Saint Michael's placed third among eight teams. Jeter has crossed the line first among Purple Knights during six of his last seven completed races, including both this fall.
Saint Michael's is back on the course on Saturday at the James Earley Invitational in Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. The men's race begins at 11:15 a.m. before the women start at 12 p.m.
