Covitz and McLeod represent women's volleyball on NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's volleyball juniors Chelsey Covitz (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and Jess McLeod (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) were both named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 7. The duo helped the Purple Knights post a 2-0 mark.

Covitz posted 24 kills while hitting .404 and collecting six blocks, six digs and four aces during her team's six sets over two matches last week. In a 3-0 win over Merrimack College last Tuesday, Covitz had eight kills and no errors on 22 attacks while adding six blocks, an ace and a dig. During a 3-0 win over the State University of New York at Plattsburgh on Wednesday, Covitz collected 16 kills on 30 swings to go along with five digs and three aces. For the season, she is third in the NE-10 in attack percentage (.338) and 10th with 3.0 kills per set.

McLeod dished out assists on 69 of her team's 82 kills while totaling eight digs. Against Merrimack, she turned in 33 assists, four digs and a block before notching 36 assists and four digs versus SUNY Plattsburgh. Her 9.73 assists per set are good for fifth in the NE-10, and 496 helpers place McLeod 10th in that category. McLeod is 97 assists short of 2,500 for her career, a plateau only one other Purple Knight has ever reached.

At 9-6 overall and 1-3 in the league, Saint Michael's is on the cusp of posting a third straight 10-win season for the first time since 1995. The Purple and Gold hosts Bentley University tonight at 7 p.m.
