COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College volleyball team (5-9, 1-6 Northeast-10 Conference) suffered its fourth straight loss on Friday evening, and second straight five-set setback, falling to league-rival Pace University, 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-11, 15-12) at the Ross Sports Center.
For Pace (8-5, 2-1 NE-10), freshman Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) tallied a match-high 14 kills and nine service aces. Classmate Susan Verdugo-Del Real (El Centro, Calif.) added 12 kills and three service aces in the win, while sophomore Shea Hansen (Mesa, Ariz.) handed out 43 assists. Junior Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, N.Y.) recorded a team-best 21 digs as the Setters rallied from a pair of one-set deficits.
For Saint Michael's, junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) posted a team-best 13 kills and added two solo blocks, while freshman Samantha Clairemont (South Deerfield, Mass./Frontier Regional) added 12 kills and two solo blocks. Freshman Maggie Zuhlke (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) passed out a team-best 37 assists, while senior Kelly Garthwait (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) notched 23 digs.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, as the Purple Knights host league-leading Adelphi University at 1 p.m. Pace also returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m., visiting conference-foe Saint Anselm College.
