Volleyball Beats Saint Rose For First Time In Program History, 3-2

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College volleyball team (11-11, 2-8 Northeast-10 Conference) snapped a three-match losing skid on Saturday, edging The College of Saint Rose, 3-2, at the Ross Sports Center. Saint Michael's won the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-23, before Saint Rose battled back to win games three and four, 25-18 and 25-22. Saint Michael's closed out the match with a 15-11 comeback win in the fifth and deciding game.

Five players had 10+ kills for the Purple Knights, with sophomore Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) leading the squad with 13 kills. Senior Amy Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) tallied a match-high 43 assists, while classmate Stephanie Smetana (Independence, Mo./Truman) posted a match-best 18 digs.

For Saint Rose (12-8, 5-5 NE-10), freshman Marilyn Glamack (Victor, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 17 kills and added 12 digs. Classmate Theresa Staulo (Newton, Mass.) chipped in with 36 assists, and junior Mary German (Canandaigua, N.Y.) tallied 15 digs.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, November 1, as the Purple Knights host league-rival Southern New Hampshire University at 1 p.m. Saint Rose returns to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home match versus Le Moyne College.
