COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's tennis senior Amelia Weeks (Clinton, Wash./South Whidbey) and sophomore Abby Ramsay (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) were both named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 1. Each earned the first weekly accolade of their careers.
Weeks went 3-1 last week between singles and doubles play. During her team's 8-1 win over The College of Saint Rose on Saturday, Weeks won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles after helping blank her doubles opponent at No. 2. During the Purple Knights' 7-2 loss to Le Moyne College on Sunday, she won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles before falling 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Including her squad's match from this past Tuesday at Saint Anselm College, Weeks is 5-4 in both singles and doubles this fall, leading the team outright in singles and overall (10) triumphs in addition to tying for first in doubles wins. She has already matched her career high in singles wins while coming within one doubles victory of equaling another personal best.
Ramsay also went 3-1 last week. Versus Saint Rose, Ramsay won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles after siding for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. Against Le Moyne, she won 9-8 (8-6) at top doubles before losing 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Ramsay has registered three victories between the No. 1 and 2 singles positions, including going 2-2 in the second spot, and is 5-5 at No. 1 doubles, tying for first on the team in doubles triumphs.
At 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the league, Saint Michael's visits the University of New Haven on Saturday at 10 a.m.
