Mullowney chosen for third career NE-10 Academic All-Conference laurel
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Recent Saint Michael's College women's tennis graduate Eileen Mullowney (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) was among 96 student-athletes across nine sports selected for a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference honor for the spring athletic season.
Mullowney earned the recognition for the third time in her multi-sport career, and for the second time for the 2011-12 school year after being lauded following the swimming & diving season. Mullowney was one of six women's tennis players from the NE-10 to earn the accolade, as Purple Knights have now been selected seven times in the past seven years. She has also landed on the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll on six occasions.
Mullowney went 9-4 as a senior, posting a perfect 3-0 mark in singles play while going 6-4 in doubles, winning in each of the three doubles positions. In addition to being 3-1 at No. 2, she played a role in two wins in the top slot, including during an NE-10 Tournament quarterfinal.
The NE-10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR). To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average; and 3) completed at least one academic year at their current institution.
