Women's Tennis Defeated By Adelphi University, 6-3

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Purple Knights women's tennis team was defeated by Adelphi University, 6-3, Sunday on the Saint Michael's College outdoor courts.

In doubles competition, junior Marybeth Ash (Westborough, Mass.) and freshman Emily Magee (Queensbury, N.Y.) defeated Adelphi sophomore Maria Toft (Copenhagen, Denmark) and junior Jamie Sussman (Glastonbury, Conn.), 9-7. Purple Knights junior Marran Ranks (Stratham, N.H.) and freshman Jean-Marie McGrath (Niwot, Colo.) also defeated their Adelphi opponents, junior Alda Ribeiro (Del Ray Beach, Fla.) and freshman Michelle Gurda (Greenville, N.Y.), 8-6.

Purple Knights freshman Alexandra Dalton (South Easton, Mass.) was the only singles player to overcome her opponent, Amanda Anidoli, by set scores of 7-5 and 6-3.

The Purple Knights will travel to Franklin Pierce on Saturday, October 3 for their next Fall season match, battling the Ravens on their courts at 1 p.m.
