Amy Berkman returns to the Saint Michael's College women's tennis team for her second season as an assistant coach in 2009-10. She helped lead the Purple Knights to a 14-7 record in 2008-09, including the program's second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Berkman was a four-year standout at Middlebury College, where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in biochemistry. As a freshman, she helped the Panthers reach the NCAA Division III National Tournament, and as a senior co-captain, she guided Middlebury to a 10-5 record.
A native of Shelburne, Vt., Berkman was a top student-athlete at nearby Rice Memorial High School.
