Women's Tennis Edged At Top-Seeded Stonehill, 5-3, In NE-10 Semifinals


EASTON, Mass. - The fourth-seeded Saint Michael's College women's tennis team (14-6) gave top-seeded Stonehill College all it could handle before dropping a 5-3 decision to the Skyhawks in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

For the Purple Knights, sophomore Marybeth Ash (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) won her lone match, an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles.

Despite the loss, Saint Michael's should still qualify for its second straight NCAA Division II Tournament. The Purple Knights are ranked sixth in this week's East Regional Rankings, and the top eight from the region advance to the national tournament. The selection will take place early next week.
