Women's Tennis Dream Season Ends With 5-0 Loss At California (Pa.) In NCAA Tournament

South Park, Pa.-- Inga Chilingaryan (Yerevan, Armenia) and Helena VanEysendeyk (Maythet, France/ Zurich International) led California (24-2) to a 5-0 win over St. Michael's, Thursday.

The two combined first in a doubles match to defeat Michelle Wood and Lindsay Horne, 8-1, then split to their singles competition where VanEysendeyk defeated Horne, 6-2, 6-0 and Chilingaryan defeated Deahna Giguere, 6-0, 6-0. California also won both of the other doubles matches 6-1, 6-0. On the day California was 48-4.

This was the first trip to the NCAA tournament for St. Michael's. California will now await the results from the other match in the sub-regional tournament between Queens (N.Y.) and Bloomsburg to determine who they will face Friday morning at 8 a.m. at the Glen Creek Tennis Club in South Park, Pa. The winner of that final match will receive an invitation to the Spring Sports Festival in Houston, Texas next week.
