COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's soccer junior Megan LeCours (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) was named Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 1. Senior Abby Pelon (South Lyon, Mich./Ladywood) landed on the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.
In her team's lone contest, LeCours made 11 saves to blank Bentley University, 3-0, on Saturday. She made nine of her stops in the second half alone. During her second season as the team's undisputed starter, playing all but one contest thus far, LeCours is 2-3-1 with two shutouts, an .882 save percentage and a 1.05 goals-against average. She leads the NE10 in save percentage, is fourth in saves (45), and sits eighth in GAA. LeCours earned her third consecutive league accolade after twice landing on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Pelon scored the first two goals 6:16 apart in the Purple Knights' win over Bentley. After starting 16 games as a back last fall, Pelon has moved to forward, where she has accumulated career highs of three goals and two assists. Pelon paces the squad in goals and points (8) while tying for the top spot in helpers. She is tied for 10th in the NE10 in points.
At 3-3-1 overall and 2-3 in the NE10, the Purple Knights embark on a week during which they will host three regionally-ranked opponents in five days. Saint Michael's takes on The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday at 3 p.m., facing a squad that's fifth in the latest United Soccer Coaches East Region poll. The Golden Knights qualified for 13 of the past 15 NCAA Tournaments.
