Women's soccer honored with NSCAA academic honor for fifth straight year

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the fifth straight season on Thursday, and for the sixth time in seven years. The Purple Knights were one of seven Northeast-10 Conference teams to qualify.

By posting a 3.15 cumulative grade-point average for the 2011-12 school year, Saint Michael's met the minimum 3.0 GPA necessary to qualify for the honor. The Purple and Gold was one of 48 New England teams from across the NCAA's three divisions to be lauded, including one of just seven hailing from Division II.

The team's GPA was buoyed by 21 of the Purple Knights who played in 2011 landing on the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in at least one semester during the 2011-12 school year, necessitating their carrying a 3.0 semester GPA.
