COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's women's soccer (4-11-3, 3-9-3 NE-10) played their final contest of the 2009 season on Wednesday, battling the Stonehill College Skyhawks (10-7-1, 8-6-1 NE-10) to a double overtime 1-1 tie on Duffy Field.
Junior Jenn Senecal (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) scored the first goal of the game roughly 30 minutes into the first half on an assist by freshman Cassie Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford). Skyhawks' junior Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) tied the game just over a minute into the second half, assisted by sophomore Kelsey Mahoney (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth).
Both teams had a number of shots throughout the second half and the overtime periods, but had no luck reaching the back of the net. Skyhawks' sophomore Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass./Lee) made six saves in the game. Purple Knights' sophomore Brittany Cocozza (Cranston, R.I./East Greenwich/Saint John's) made two saves in the first half before being subbed by sophomore Ashleigh Adams (Milton, Vt./Milton) who recorded six saves for the remainder of the game.
This game was the final contest of Purple Knights' senior Alicia Baxter's career here at Saint Michael's College. Senecal's goal served as her fourth of the season, tying her for the team lead in goals (4) and points (9).
