COLCHESTER, Vt.- Seniors Laura Wesley (Chula Vista, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) and Kelly Boulter (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) of the Saint Michael's College women's soccer team were selected to play in the 2007 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl at 11 a.m. on December 2 at Bryant University, it was announced on Wednesday. The vote incorporated nominations from each team's coaching staff, followed by a cumulative vote by divisional coaches. Two goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and six forwards were voted on to the senior bowl squad.
The 5-8 defender, Wesley, has served as the team captain for the past two years for the Purple Knights. She scored three goals on the year, including the game-winner in a 4-0 victory over Castleton State (Sept. 13) and accounted for one assist in a 2-0 win over Molloy College (Aug. 26). The first Californian in team history started all but one game she played in, in her career at Saint Michael's College. As a solid defender, Wesley was voted to the Northeast-10 Conference Third Team as a freshman and sophomore and second team all-conference as a senior this past fall. For her career, Wesley scored five goals and four assists leading Saint Michael's in 66 contests played.
Serving as one of the team's co-captains, Boulter became a force in the Purple Knights backfield, helping Saint Michael's to five shutout victories. Her lone assist on the year came against Pace University (Sept. 1) in a 1-1 tie. The Norfolk-native played in 56 games over her collegiate career, including 17 this past season, leading the Purple Knights to their first winning season (8-7-3) in four years. In her career, Boulter tallied nine goals and eight assists for 26 total points. The 5-9 senior was named to the Northeast-10 all-conference third team for this years performance following a junior year in which she was selected to the all-conference second team. She was tied for the team lead in assists (four) and second in goals scored (three) in her junior year.
The two seniors led Saint Michael's to a 28-36-7 record over the course of their career for Head Coach Marcel Choquette who holds a 72-79-12 in nine years at the helm.
