COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse scholar-athlete Sara Biondello '09 (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association Academic Squad, it was announced on Tuesday.
Nominees had to have attained at least a junior standing academically, and have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.5, or were in the top 10 percent of the team, to be considered.
This honors adds to a long list of post-season accolades for Biondello, who graduated in May with a 3.88 GPA while majoring in psychology. A four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, Biondello helped the Purple Knights earn two Northeast-10 Conference Tournament berths, and a Quarterfinal win as a junior.
A Dean's List member every semester, she earned multiple NE-10 All-Academic honors, as well as being named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll on multiple occasions. She also was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Second Team as a senior. Her GPA is the highest among the College's female student-athletes in the Class of 2009, and she is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.
