Women's Lacrosse Upended By Southern New Hampshire, 18-3

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team (3-10, 3-6 NE-10) was bested by Southern New Hampshire University (11-4, 8-2 NE-10), 18-3, Tuesday afternoon on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.

For Southern New Hampshire, sophomore Sherry Darrell (Bow, N.H.) scored three goals to go along with three assists, while senior Jennifer Parro (Ipswich, Mass.) found the back of the net twice and handed out three helpers. Senior Laura Rotolo (Waltham, Mass.) recorded a hat-trick and added an assist, while junior Jami Shugrue (Lowell, Mass.), senior Libby Parent (Hinesburg, Vt.), and junior Carole Lee (Derry, N.H.) all scored two goals each in the win. Senior Katie Clark (Norwich, Conn.) and freshman Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) split time in net and combined to stop five shots.

For Saint Michael's, senior Kim Berlo (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) led the way with a goal and an assist, while classmate Lauren Rizzotti (Rockland, Mass./Cohasset), and freshman Eliza Scoba (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) added a goal each. Senior Amanda Pelley (Mashpee, Mass./Falmouth) added an assist. Sophomore Meghan McLaughlin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) stopped three shots in 30 minutes of action in net.

With the Purple Knights down 1-0 early on in the first half, Berlo would tie the score at one at the 24-minute mark of the first half. The Penmen would then score seven unanswered first half goals to take an 8-1 lead into the half. Southern New Hampshire would keep applying the pressure in the second half, scoring nine goals in 16 minutes. Saint Michael's would add two goals in the final nine minutes.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday, as the Purple Knights take American International College for their final regular season game on "Senior Day" at 1 p.m. on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.
