EASTON, Mass.- The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team (9-7, 6-4 NE-10) fell to the top-ranked Stonehill College Skyhawks (13-3, 10-0 NE-10) Friday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals, 18-5. After being knotted at three, 10 minutes into the contest, the Skyhawks went on a 10-1 run before halftime to pull away from the Purple Knights. Senior Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) added to her record-setting season total of goals scored with her 62nd and 63rd in the first and second half.
In addition to Curran's pair of goals, senior captain Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt./Woodstock Union) netted a pair and junior Lauren Rizzotti tallied a goal to give the Purple Knights an early 1-0 lead.
Ending her career with a 21-21 record, senior goalkeeper Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) stopped eight shots with six in the first half.
The Purple Knights' pressure defense caused 18 Skyhawk turnovers, but being out-shot 24-7 in the first stanza was too arduous of a task to take on for Saint Michael's.
