NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Senior Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) led all scorers with nine points on five goals and four assists to help Saint Michael's secure the five-seed in the Northeast-10 Conference post-season, earning the right to play at Merrimack on Wednesday, April 30 in the Quarterfinals. The Purple Knights jumped out to a 9-5 halftime lead while out-shooting the Owls 19-9 to bounce back from a two game skid to win 16-10.
In addition to Curran's five-goal outing, classmate Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt./Woodstock Union) also added five scores to pace the Purple Knights. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) stopped 13 shots on the afternoon for Saint Michael's, blocking 11 in the second half alone.
For Southern Connectictu, Allison Kownacki tallied six points on a hat trick and three helpers. Goalkeeper Lisa Corso allowed Southern Connecticut to hang around with 16 saves.
The Purple Knights will travel to North Andover, Massachusetts on Wednesday, April 30 for a Northeast-10 Quarterfinal matchup with Merrimack at a time to be announced.
