COLCHESTER, Vt.- Snapping a two-game win streak, the Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team (7-5, 5-3 NE-10) ran into the juggernaut that is C.W. Post (14-0, 4-0 ECC) Sunday afternoon at Duffy Field, falling in the end by a score of 22-3. The Purple Knights' only goals were in the form of senior attacker Brynne Curran's (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) 50th, 51st and 52nd goals of the season. With two regular season games remaining, Curran is eight goals shy of tying the program record of goals in a season held by Amanda Lohin '03.
Leading the undefeated Pioneers was junior midfielder Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) with 10 points on five goals and five assists. Hogan tallied C.W. Post's game-winner and scored the team's only free position attempt. Senior Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) mtached Hogan's five goal outing while chipping in an assist as well. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) earned her 14th straight win on the year making 12 stops in net, including eight in the first stanza.
For Saint Michael's, Curran led all scorers with a hat trick of goals, two of which were unassisted. Junior midfielder Kim Berlo (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) assisted on Curran's first goal to cut the lead to 3-1 6:40 into the action. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) registered eight saves on the day with six in the first half alone.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Thursday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. to host Northeast-10 Conference top-ranked Stonehill College (10-2, 8-0 NE-10).
