Women's Lacrosse Falls To Top-Ranked C.W. Post 13-3


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ? The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team finished their spring break trip to Florida with a 13-3 defeat to top-ranked C.W. Post on Saturday. The Purple Knights head back to campus with a 1-2 mark to begin the season.

For the Purple Knights (1-2, 0-0 NE-10), sophomores Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth), Kim Berlo (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) and Amanda Pelley (Mashpee, Mass./Falmouth) each tallied goals in the defeat, while junior goaltender Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) stopped nine shots between the pipes for Saint Michael's.

For the Pioners (3-0), Jenna Miller and Elaine Williams each posted three goals in the win t and Shannon Fabian added two more for C.W. Post. Lauren Scipione made 12 saves to earn her third win of the season.

The Purple Knights begin their 2007 Northeast-10 schedule on Saturday, March 21, as they travel to Stonehill for a 3:30 p.m. face-off with the NE-10 favorites, the Skyhawks. For more information on women's lacrosse, visit our website at www.smcathletics.com.
