Women's Lacrosse Splits First Two Games Of The Season In Florida


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ? The Saint Michael's women's lacrosse team opened their season with a 13-12 victory over Skidmore College on Monday in West Palm Beach, Florida. Junior assistant captain Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt./Woodstock Union) led the way with three scores for the Purple Knights. In the second game of the trip, Saint Michael's was defeated by East Stroudsburg University, 10-9, on Tuesday. Senior tri-captain Megan Rule (Bow, N.H./Bow) tallied three goals and added an assist in the defeat.

On Monday, the Purple Knights got two goals apiece from sophomores Amanda Pelley (Mashpee, Mass./Falmouth) and Lauren Rizzotti (Rockland, Mass./Cohasset) and senior tri-captain Megan Lagasse (Newburyport, Mass./Governor Dummer Academy). Junior Lila McCormack (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) and sophomore Kim Berlo (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) had goals, while freshman Kayla Sibilia (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) scored her first collegiate goal. Junior Courtney Wakem (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) earned the win with nine saves in net.

Against East Stroudsburg, Lagasse recorded two more scores along with an assist to go along with Rule's three tallies. The Purple Knights had four different players with at least one goal. Sophomores Sara Biondello (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth), Pelley and Rizzotti each posted goals in the loss for the Purple Knights. Wakem pushed aside five shots in net for Saint Michael's.
