COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College senior Noel Smith (Somers, Conn./Somers) was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team for women's lacrosse on Sunday, while classmate Kristen Palazzo (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) and sophomore Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt./Woodstock Union) received Second Team accolades.
Smith, a tri-captain this season along with Palazzo, anchored the Purple Knights' defense this spring. She led the squad with 19 caused turnovers (while committing just 16 turnovers), and tied for second on the team with 29 ground balls. She added her first career goal in 13 games played (all starts), and completed her four-year career with four assists and six points in 56 contests.
Palazzo led the Purple Knights with 17 assists (ninth in the NE-10 with 1.21 assists per game) and 53 points (10th in the NE-10 with 3.79 points per game) while starting all 14 games this spring. The senior also added a pair of game-winning goals. She completed her four-year career with 83 goals (tied for seventh in program history), 44 assists (second in program history) and 127 points (fifth in program history) in 57 contests.
Soule paced the Purple Knights with 37 goals and was second on the team with 39 points this season. She led the NE-10 with 60 draw controls and 4.29 draw controls per game, and has compiled 57 goals and 64 points while starting all 27 games in her two-year career.
Saint Michael's finished the season with an 8-6 record, just one win shy of matching the single-season program record.
