Women's Ice Hockey Opens Season With 7-0 Loss At Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team suffered a 7-0 loss at Saint Anselm College on Friday evening in the season opener for both teams.

Freshman Erin Stevens (Watertown, Conn./Connecticut Polar Bears) stopped 27 shots in her collegiate debut for the Purple Knights.

Saint Michael's trailed by just a 1-0 score through one period of play, but the host Hawks tallied a shorthanded goal 5:37 into the second period, jump-starting a three-goal frame that sealed the victory.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at ECAC East rival New England College.
