COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball sophomore Emily Ferreri (Hyde Park, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) earned a position on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 12, claiming the accolade for the second time this season.
Ferreri averaged 18.5 points on 58.6 percent shooting with 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 offensive rebounds and 2.5 steals during a 1-1 week. In a 60-53 win at Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday, she had 21 points, seven rebounds, two offensive boards, three steals and an assist. During a 60-55 loss at regionally-ranked Saint Anselm College on Saturday, Ferreri totaled 16 points, four rebounds, two offensive rebounds and two steals, shooting 7-of-12, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. The Hawks were 10th in last week's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll.
The third-leading scorer (9.4) on the team, Ferreri paces all Purple Knights in shooting (42.0%), assists (66) and steals (46) while taking second in blocks (16) and tying for third in three-pointers (10). The 5-foot-8 guard adds 3.9 rebounds, having started all 23 contests. Ferreri is tied for third in the league in steals per game (2.0), 10th in assists average (2.9), 17th in minutes (32.1) and tied for 19th in blocks per contest (0.7). All of Ferreri's figures are career bests after she averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.5 minutes as a rookie, appearing in 25 games.
The Purple Knights are 12-11 overall and 10-8 in the league, standing fourth in the NE10 Northeast Division with three games to play. The top five qualify for the postseason. Saint Michael's hosts nationally-ranked Bentley University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons were 19th in last week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll and stand third in this week's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll.
