Adach earns ninth NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll accolade after scoring 1,000th point
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball senior Nicole Adach (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 17. This week marks Adach's ninth time earning the award this year.
Adach became the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau while averaging 17.5 points with the help of 85.7 percent (12-for-14) free throw shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents last week. At No. 2 Bentley University on Tuesday, Adach scored 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting, going 2-for-2 on three-pointers and 6-for-6 on free throws. She also contributed nine rebounds, two steals and a block against the Falcons. Adach reached her milestone in Saturday's game against No. 18 Stonehill College, recording 19 points on 6-of-8 free throw shooting, six boards, two assists and two steals.
By hitting a free throw with 12:42 remaining versus the Skyhawks, Adach became the third straight Purple Knight to reach the 1,000-point milestone on a free throw, and the fourth player in school annals with 1,000 points (1,008), 500 rebounds (545) and 250 free throws (274). Adach is the sixth Saint Michael's player in the last 10 years to hit the plateau, and the 10th in 20 seasons. Logan Pintka '11 had been the last Purple and Gold player to reach 1,000, doing so on Jan. 15, 2011.
Adach stands third in the league in free throw shooting (84.6), fifth in scoring (15.4) and free throws (88), and seventh in field goal shooting (50.4). Beyond leading the team in each of those categories, Adach is first in offensive rebounding (2.7) and blocks (14), and second in rebounding (6.2) and steals (37). She is also 21-for-44 from three-point range, for a 47.7 percent success rate. Adach's eight 20-point games this season are the most by a Saint Michael's player since Liz LeFebvre '03 (16) and Erica Kensey '04 (9) in 2002-03.
Saint Michael's, which stands 9-14 overall and 7-12 in the NE-10, returns to the floor on Wednesday when it hosts Merrimack College at 5:30 p.m. for its final home game of the season.
