COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball senior Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 27. It marked the second time Olsen was recognized this winter.
Olsen averaged 24.5 points on 53.1 percent shooting (17-for-32), including 58.3 percent from three-point range (7-of-12), while adding an 80.0 percent showing (8-for-10) on free throws during a 2-0 week. She added 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. In an 89-75 win at the University of New Haven on Wednesday, Olsen had 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Olsen then totaled a career-high 31 points to go along with six steals and five boards in a 70-59 victory over The College of Saint Rose on Saturday. Her 31 points were five short of Kathy O'Neil's '81 32-year-old school record, as she shot 10-of-17 overall, including 4-for-5 from deep, and 7-of-9 on freebies.
Olsen leads the Purple Knights with a career-high 47 steals while placing first in three-point shooting (36.6) and second in scoring (13.6), assists (34), shooting (41.8), three-pointers (26), free throws (58) and free throw shooting (79.5). She adds 3.9 rebounds. Olsen is tied for fourth in the NE-10 in steals while standing seventh in free throws and eighth in free throw shooting.
Thanks to a recent 5-1 surge, Saint Michael's is 7-10 overall and 5-8 in the NE-10, standing just one game out of the 10th and final postseason spot with nine games to play. The Purple Knights host Assumption College, which received votes toward last week's USA TODAY national poll, tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
