Adach and Long land on NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll, Adach earns eighth recognition

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball senior Nicole Adach (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) and junior Alexa Long (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 20. This week marks Adach's eighth time earning the award this season, while it is Long's first of the year.

Adach averaged 20.0 points on 61.1 percent (11-of-18) shooting, including performances of 4-for-6 from three-point range and 70.0 percent (14-for-20) on free throws, while adding 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game. During a 62-60 win over Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, Adach netted 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and a 3-of-4 showing from the free throw line. In the game, she also contributed six steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists. In a 69-68 overtime loss to American International College on Saturday, Adach scored 20 points on 4-of-6 shooting and an 11-for-16 showing from the free throw stripe while also adding nine rebounds and two steals.

Long averaged 14.5 points and 12.0 rebounds last week, shooting 57.9 percent (11-for-19) from the field that included a 2-for-4 performance from three-point range. Long notched 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal against Southern Connecticut State before scoring 19 points and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds at American International. Long shot 6-of-9, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and 5-for-7 on free throws while adding a pair of assists in the contest.

Adach stands second in the NE-10 in scoring (17.5) and field goal shooting (57.5), is tied for third in free throw shooting (83.8), and is tied for seventh in offensive rebounding (3.0). Adach adds team highs of 7.0 rebounds per game and nine blocks, ranks second among Purple Knights with 28 steals, and has shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from three-point range. While posting eight 20-point games this season, the most by a Saint Michael's player since Liz LeFebvre '03 (16) and Erica Kensey '04 (9) in 2002-03, she entered last weekend as the only player in Division II to be among the top 25 in both free throw shooting (14th) and field goal shooting (T-19th).

Long averages 5.5 points and 6.7 rebounds this season while adding seven blocks. Over her last five games, Long averaged 8.6 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.

Saint Michael's, which stands 5-10 overall and 3-8 in the NE-10, returns to the floor on Wednesday when it travels to face the University of New Haven at 7:30 p.m.
