Adach and Olsen earn NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll nods, Adach lauded for seventh time

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball seniors Nicole Adach (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) and Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 13. This week's recognition marks Adach's seventh time earning the award this season, while it is Olsen's first of the campaign.

Adach averaged 15.0 points on 60.0 percent (12-for-20) shooting, including an 85.7 percent (6-of-7) clip from the free throw line, while averaging 6.5 rebounds during a pair of NE-10 wins last week. In a 60-44 win on Wednesday at Pace University, which has reached each of the last three NCAA Tournaments, Adach scored eight points on 4-for-9 shooting and tallied one assist and a block before notching 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and a 6-for-7 showing from the free throw stripe in a 64-43 victory over Adelphi University on Saturday. Adach also grabbed seven rebounds and added an assist and a steal against a Panther team that entered the game tied for third in the NE-10 standings while averaging 75.5 points, which ranked second in the conference.

Olsen averaged 20.0 points while shooting 61.5 percent (16-for-26) from the field, including 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from beyond the arc. Olsen also added 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists per game. In the win at Pace, Olsen finished with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a 3-for-4 showing from three-point range, while adding three assists and two steals. In Saturday's win over Adelphi, Olsen turned in a career-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting, and contributed five steals and three assists.

Both seniors contributed to a defense that forced 17.0 turnovers per game and allowed an average of 43.5 points during the two-game stretch.

Adach leads the NE-10 in free throw shooting (89.6), is second in scoring (17.2) and field goal shooting (57.0), and stands seventh in offensive rebounding (3.2). She adds a team-high nine blocks to go along with 20 steals. While posting six 20-point games this winter, she is currently the only player in Division II to be among the top 25 in both free throw shooting (11th) and field goal shooting (12th).

Olsen averages 12.6 points on 40.2 percent shooting, as well as an 81.8 percent showing on free throws, while turning in 3.6 boards and a team-best 36 steals. She stands fifth in the league in steals per game and free throws, and is tied for eighth in free throw shooting.

Saint Michael's, which stands 4-9 overall and 2-7 in the NE-10, returns to the floor on Tuesday when it hosts Southern Connecticut State University at 5:30 p.m.
